Teen: Hannah

After canceling once because of bad weather, this past Saturday was a beautiful day for pictures. We met at the square and I hadn’t realized how many places there are to shoot at. Hannah brought along her best friend (who I knew, actually,) and I completely recommend this. There’s no better way to go than a best friend for some natural smiles. I hope you like these pictures, Hannah, and can’t wait for you to see them all.

this one (above) is my favorite!

the one (above) one the right is another favorite.

I enjoyed shooting with you Hannah :)

Senior tips for girls

Yay, first post on the new blog!

Here are some tips that could bring your photos to the next level. Hair and makeup make a big difference

Hair - if you are getting a haircut do so at least three day before the photoshoot. You can definitely go get your hair styled right before, but do not get a major haircut.

- come with a couple hair styles planned. bring bobby pins, hair rubber bands, hair spray, headbands etc. even something as simple as pinning your bangs back will give variety to the pictures.

Makeup: please consider getting your makeup professionally done. I know that that’s not a great fit for everyone, so here are some makeup tips if you are doing it yourself.

- do not use clumpy mascara. this really shows in pictures. buy a fresh tube if you need to.

- opt for matte. shimmery eyeshadow, and body glitter does not look the same in photos as it does in real life. in the photos the glitter looks like pieces of foil stuck to your skin or it makes you look greasy.

- make sure that your skin tones are even, and your face is not a different color than your neck. if you use concealer, blend well.

- you can bring lipstick and lipgloss to the photoshoot if you want to change your look for different outfits.

- you might also want to go for a more neutral look in the beginning, and then apply some colored eye shadow at the end.

- don’t stress out too much, photoshop can usually take care of pimples

clothes - bring as many outfits as you want to. though we may not use them all, it’s better to have to much than too little. wear whatever represents your personality the best.

- get dressy. prom dress. little black dress. you get the idea.

- get casual. ok, the main point here is to have lots of variety. dressy, casual, in between. dresses, skirts, jeans, suits, blouses, tshirts. clothes that relate to a hobby such as horseback riding or cheerleading.

- accessorize. accessories add good visual interest. remember to bring different accessories for each outfit.

- tan lines, visible bra straps and messy/chipped nail polish add BAD visual interest. avoid at all costs.

-clothing with brand names on them are distracting. we want people to look at your face, not “Hollister” in hot pink letters

- break the rules. if you feel like these don’t reflect you, then nix em. love hollister? strut that hot pink lettering.

other - bring props that mean something to you such as your violin or favorite book.

themed shoots - if you have an idea in your mind for a themed shoot, then let me know and we can make it happen. i’ve seen retro themed shoots, Alice in Wonderland shoots etc.

ONE LAST THING

if you are camera shy, relax. if you think you are unphotogenic, then please stop.i would be a rich person if i had a dollar for every “unphotogenic” person i proved wrong.

And, because the first post would feel naked without a photo, here is a sneak peak of Hannah’s shoot - more to come soon!
